Futsal is five-aside football played with a smaller (size  4) low bounce ball, on a basketball sized court without rebound walls or nets. It is a game which combines fun, creativity, speed, technique, teamwork and quick thinking.  Northern Football Federation now deliver futsal  for players starting from 7 years through to adult.  Programmes start at a centre near you in term four.  To register please go to our website http://www.nff.org.nz/  or contact Sarah Payne 021 795 045  sarah.payne@nff.org.nz for more information.

Grasshopper Tennis!!!

Do you know what Grasshopper Tennis is?
It’s a type of tennis with small nets, small courts, small balls, and small rackets, this year Gulf Harbour students get to learn all about it!
Grasshopper Tennis started on the 26th of September and each class will have four sessions over the next four school weeks.
In these sessions, the students will be focussing on ball skills, proper serves and correctly hitting the ball.
Grasshopper Tennis is a great opportunity for us to go outside, exercise and hone our tennis skills at the same time.
We are all looking forward to the next session.

Rippa Rugby Festival

Friday 23rd September, Room 25 held an event called the Rippa Rugby Festival.
The ground was muddy and slippery but it was challenging for all ages.
Each team represented a different country. It was a tough fight for all the teams but New Zealand and Samoa made it to the finals. In the end Samoa won the cup!
The game started at 4:00pm and finished at 6:30pm. It was an exciting evening for everybody and it was great to see the determination in our students!

North Harbour Sport Basketball Competition

On Thursday the 25th of August our Year 7 and 8 girls basketball team competed in the North Harbour Basketball competition.
The whole team worked extremely well together and this showed that they had improved in each and every game. By the 3rd game of the day our girls were rearing to go and worked much better as a team. They were able to get some good possession and managed to win the third game with great defensive work.
Even though they didn't come first place they still had an awesome time and never gave up.
It was a pleasure training the girls, they were a very dedicated bunch and always willing to
          learn new techniques.
As a Hibiscus Coast coach - I was impressed with the level of the girls skills and look forward
to helping your school in the future to ensure girls basketball continues to grow.
