Cross Country Details - Thursday 21st August

Gulf Harbour School Cross Country
                        Thursday 21st August

Dear Parents,

This is a reminder notice that our annual Gulf Harbour School cross country is now a week away.  Students have been training hard in preparation for this event and we look forward to celebrating the rewards that this hard work will bring our runners on this day.

On Thursday 21 August, Gulf Harbour School will travel to Shakespear Park to run a variety of age appropriate distances.  All year 0 - 2 students will travel by bus to and from the park.  The bus will leave GHS at 9:30 sharp from the back entrance of the school and return by 2:00pm. There is a cost of $2:00 per student and this will be invoiced within your child’s account.  Should you wish for your child not to travel on the bus could you please let your child’s class teacher know ASAP.  Year 3-8 students will travel by walking bus.  They will leave school in their classes at 9:00am sharp and will return to school by 2:30pm. There is no charge for year 3-8 students.

All students are expected to attend this event.  If your child is unable to participate please send a signed note to school with them to their teacher.  However if they are not able to run we would still like them to attend the event to support their fellow classmates.

Your child will need to bring appropriate running shoes, wear their chosen class colours to run in, a change of clothes, warm clothing to put on prior to and after racing, water, snacks, and food.  We will be selling sausages and bread for $2.00 on the day.  The stadium students will be raising money for our red nose day (child cancer) and will sell cupcakes for $2.  We would really love you to support Jackson Howes (a stadium student) who is the NZ Cure kids ambassador by buying a cupcake.

The Events will be as follows:
10:15               Year 0/1 girls followed by boys race.
10:30               Year 2 girls followed by boys to race.
10:50               Year 3 girls followed by boys to race.
11:10               Year 4 girls followed by boys to race.
11:30               Year 5 girls followed by boys to race.
11:50               Year 6 girls followed by boys to race.
12:10               Year 7 girls followed by boys to race.
12:30               Year 8 girls followed by boys to race.
1:00                 Fitness Challenge - Whole School

We are really excited to host this event in 2014.  If you are able to help us in anyway, whether it be on the BBQ, race official, marshall, results, judge, we would love to hear from you prior to this event.  Please email Ruth Taylor r.taylor@ghs.school.nz.

We look forward to seeing you all.
